Medicare in the region
Central Minnesota is a mix: the St. Cloud area has metro-style plan choice, while the lakes counties to the north and east lean on a couple of systems and long drives. Mille Lacs, Kanabec, Pine and Meeker counties are still Cost-plan counties; Stearns, Crow Wing and the others are not.
A lot of people retire to a lake place here after a career in the metro. If that is you, note that moving your permanent address across a county line changes the plans available to you and opens a Special Enrollment Period to switch.

Possibly. Medicare Advantage, Part D and Cost plans are tied to your county of permanent residence. Moving out of a plan’s service area gives you a Special Enrollment Period to pick a plan offered where you live now; a Medicare supplement follows you without a change.
Nothing. Independent agents are paid by the carriers when you enroll, so comparing plans and reviewing your coverage each year is free to you.
